You must network.
It doesn’t matter where you lead and how many you lead, you must network!
Networking is 21st Century marketing for the Leader. A well constructed and maintained network is a rich, interactive storehouse of knowledge, information, and resources.
Your time networking should be intentional activities around career connections and collegial support and should be split 50/50 between the two.
To be intentional about your networking means you know why you make the time to do it. You know it’s important to build new relationships. You know how important face-time is in maintaining those relationships.
You have committed to share in your network – you give. You realize that you must spend half your efforts in networking with your career connections and half your efforts with your colleagues. Giving in each half is the same – you share your knowledge, your relationships, and your care and concern.
