Story is a powerful tool used to engage others in designing a better future and in creating an understandable connection with meaningful action in the present.
Storytelling is artful narrative applied to bring people together as a result of individualized interpretation of the story.
We experience Storytelling often. We experience storytelling when conversing with friends and family about events of the recent or distant past. We experience storytelling each time we watch a movie, listen to a ballad, and read a novel.
The components of Story, connected in a caring manner by the Storytelling Leader, fire our imagery and invite us into the Story.
The power of Story rests in the imagination of the hearer until it is stirred by the skilled teller. Through Story, Leaders help us see the future in our daily commitments and actions.
Hi Jeff,
You are right about that. We have never lost that ritual of the primitive cavemen huddled around the fire telling stories of the hunt. Stories ignite that deep connection and are key to our memories. Our view of the world is so much the shared stories of the culture.
Thanks,
Ed Anderson
