Reality
You are human – Your responsibility is to develop an outstanding supporting cast.
Equip and allow others to lead in the right moments. It’s about the success of the team – the Collective. Allowing people to see honest behavior is part of maintaining trust and credibility. Allowing others strengths to shine through and take the lead in the right moments does not mean you’ve lost control. In their eyes, it actually makes you more of a leader.
As a manager, you are accountable for systems. Organizationally, systems determine behavior. As a leader, you are accountable for people. Individually, beliefs determine behavior. Your demonstration of, and commitment to, transparency means you will consistently communicate with honesty, composure, and integrity.
This makes it not only safe, but strategically critical, to be human.
