Aha, I get it now...thanks for sharing your 55 experience. I find the entire aging process refreshing in a way. I don't particularly care whether or not others agree with me as long as I stay true to myself. There's a certain centerdness and peace that comes with getting older. I find it's actually okay to stay away from those with negative energy...a luxury of those of us retired! I also find myself much less judgmental and forgiving. Wish I had that when I was working!

Thanks for sharing....you are indeed a gift. Have I told you lately??!!! Hugs to Becky!

Wow! Thanks Judy for this great comment/reply. And thanks for reading!

Your words reflect why I am sensing that focus on "judgment" that you and I talked about in our phone conversation last Monday.

Thanks for being my friend!

I am no longer interested in the voices of uninvited editors.

What an awesome statement! And welcome to the 'other half' of life. Jeff, I think something happens when we pass 55. Betty Davis used to say it happens when a woman reaches her early 40s but I think the age has pushed farther down the line for us. And I believe the pivot is 55. You have summed up, in a sentence, a feeling I believe comes with that age. You finally say "this is not about your opinion. It is about mine." The challenge then is to not only FEEL this internally and not only DO this (not invite editors) but to be able to actually turn off the 'knee jerk' reaction to uninvited editors when we have spent our lives doing just that - reacting. To invited OR uninvited editors.

So, my hat is off to you for summing up a 'coming of age.' And now onto the world you craft for yourself. It is all about choice.
