“We worry about the information and don’t play the game.” – Bruce Olson, PGA Golf & Business Coach
What would happen in our organizations if we, as leaders, operated from the basics of love and took the approach of understanding in all our activities?
Your individual impact depends on your committed connection to your own, unique resonance. With full voice consciousness – your brand of love out front – you enter each experience respecting the authentic force of self and others. And if we allow it, the information can easily drown out the import of voice. It is up to us to let our voice be heard in the game.
The Authentic Leader
“I want to please people from a standpoint of who they are – not who I’m not.” – Coaching client
You are credible and believable when being who you are in a consistently evidential manner. You are reliable, counted on to account and respond.
In the insight of my client’s statement, I realized she was seeking acceptance and appreciation for her real self. She was discovering the most important acceptance is self-acceptance. She insightfully understands that pleasing others is impossible if we are not free to be real and if we are bound by what we think others want us to be.
Authenticity removes the fear from accountability and responsibility.
The Servant Leader
“The high destiny of the individual is to serve rather than to rule.” – Albert Einstein
Respect working hard. In the 21st Century we cannot do everything that needs to be done without support. Respect working smart. To work smarter is to leverage the strengths of others in balance with our own. Respect working together. When in partnership with others, we find challenge.
Sustainable service exists because someone cares – placing service into a fluid existence. The work may be hard in the beginning, but the approach is smart.
The Joyful Leader
There is no joy in pleasing people. This is not service. It is imprisonment with release subject to a performance that will never be good enough.
Love makes you a leader. To love is to know the story of another. To know the story of another, one must listen. To listen is to love.
Jeff, this is some pretty deep stuff! I especially like the last comment ” to know the story of another, one must listen. To listen is to love.”
Also, I think your piece on the Authentic leader is spot on!
I am looking forward to reading your book my friend!!
