What Do You Do?

As a leader you build and maintain a network. In the process there’s that illusive networking question; “Hello Jeff, what do you do?” As my friend and colleague Raeus Cannon teaches, we normally answer this question with how we do what we do.

In the past, I would attend a function for the purpose of networking and find myself presented with the question. My response would be something like, “I’m a leadership coach and I work with groups of leaders around communication.” The average response was, “That’s nice, now what do you do?”

For a while I thought everyone I was meeting must be stupid … only to discover it was me. I was not answering their question. What do I do … not how do I do it. When I found my what – Building Confident Leaders – I was amazed at the difference in responses.

I share this because I believe that a Leader’s network is extremely important. It is part of the foundation you are building your career upon. Whether you realize it or not – and no matter what industry you lead in – you are in sales. By every action you are selling yourself – and what you stand for.

What do you do?

Live it and sell it with pride!

About Jeff Brunson

In this whirling 21st Century the individual needs to embrace the authentic self and confidently leverage the energy and power found there. As we entered the 21st Century, I became more concerned about what leaders like you needed for successful influence and personal fulfillment. As we move deeper into this challenging 21st Century, I’m more convinced than ever that the core of my work is in helping individual leaders remember who they are − a trueness. It is about confidence found in your authenticity.
